Background
In 1992 the add on for Sega Mega Drive the Sega Mega CD was released by christmas 1992 it had the biggest following in the UK. In the run up to christmas 1992 the Sega Mega CD released the first ever FMV games NIght Trap was one of them. It is a classic game with a cult following It is so atmospheric and very scary. Night Trap was released on many other consoles the best one was on the Panasonic 3DO. I always wanted them to make a sequel to Night Trap with the same cast, house and ideas, unfortunately Dana Plato died and the game was forgotten. Maybe it will get released on Xbox live arcade and include the history of the game. Genre Single Player Game
A group of young co-eds are staying at Mr. and Mrs. Martin's for the night. The Martin family seems like a normal American family, however, odd things have been occurring at this house. Five girls who previously stayed at the place had disappeared, so the "Sega Control Attack Team" ("Sega" changed to "Special" once the game was ported to other consoles) is called upon to protect the new guests and find out what happened. As the new wave of girls arrive for a slumber party (one of which is undercover SCAT agent Kelli, played by Dana Plato ), the vampiric Augers begin to invade the house.
Gameplay
Referred to as "control", the player views events via hidden cameras set up in eight different locations, which can be viewed one at a time. As the aforementioned Augers creep into the house, the player has to spot them and use traps to capture them. At the bottom of a screen rests a small meter; when this meter fills, it is the player's signal to activate a trap in the room being viewed (i.e. a revolving bookcase or a faux seal on the floor) and capture the Auger(s) on screen, adding to the score.
The player must also have the correct security access code selected on screen in order for the traps to work. The code is changed four times throughout the course of the game, and keeping up with the accurate code requires listening in on key conversations. Ultimately, high performance requires repeat plays in order to gain complete knowledge of the story and capture all Augers possible. Time always moves forward, cannot be rewound, and if too many vampires are missed, the game ends. The game will also end if certain characters are taken away or if the hosts of the slumber party disconnect your access to the traps.

Controversy The game utilized full-motion video scenes entirely and is notorious for the controversy it brewed in 1993 resulting in us senate hearings and bannings of the game nationwide. Night Trap is now infamous because of its part in the1990's Congressional hearings on offensive video game material. Night Trap and Mortal Kombat are cited as primary factors in leading to the development of the ESRB game industry ratings system. On December 16, 1993, the Sega CD version of Night Trap was removed from store shelves at Toys "R" Us and F.A.O Schwarz locations in the United States in direct response to a December 9, 1993 joint Senate Judiciary and Government Affairs Committee hearing on video game violence. The hearings induced a quaint instance of moral panic in the media and were notoriously co-chaired by Democratic Senators Joseph Liberman (Connecticut) and Herbert Kohi (Wisconsin), during which Night Trap was cited as "shameful", "ultra-violent", "sick", and "disgusting", encouraging an "effort to trap and kill women". Contrary to such claims, players are not trapping or killing women at all; rather, they are saving them from harm.

[Main Theme]
Not much information is available on the main theme song Night Trap,
except for the known information from the credits from the game. The credits
are displayed, along with the song being played in the background, regardless
of which ending the player achieves. The credits for the music composition is
as follows:
Music Composed By
Sunny BlueSkyes
Martin Lund
As mentioned above, this is the only information that is available on
the Night Trap theme song.
Lyrics
Love is easy by the light of day,
You get the boys to play away
Thoughts are down when darkness falls,
Passion burns and danger calls
So don't go out if you dare...
You better be good,
You better beware!
(Chorus)
Night Trap!
That boy will find you!
Night Trap!
Watch out behind you!
Night Trap!
Girls if you are driving a ride...
You'll be caught in the night -- Night Trap!
(Chorus Repeat)
You'll get caught in the night...
You'll get caught in the night...
In the Night Trap!
Yeah! Night Trap!

Where can I hear the theme song to Night Trap?
There are two locations in the game:
1. The easiest way to hear the song is during the credits screen at any of
the endings. The quickest way to do this is to allow the house to be
overrun by Augs -- which will probably happen anyway on your first few
playthroughs if you are a new player. This is the original version.
2. The harder way to hear the song is to survive until around 6 minutes
and 25 seconds (game time) on the clock. Keeping the camera on in the
living room, you can hear the the song on the girls' radio, along with
the first verse being sung be Christy Ford (Megan). Dana Plato and the
others soon join in during the chorus. Of course, this is harder to be
able to pull off for two reasons: 1) You need to survive until then, of
course. 2) The entire rendition lasts almost two minutes, and is almost
impossible to be seen all the way through if you are actualy trying to
stop the Augs.
Who is vocalist for the main theme? Is it Dana Plato?
It is officially unclear who the vocalist is because its never been officaly announced, Digital Pictures qoute "it is NOT Dana Plato -- singing" But in fact it is Dana Plato, it is Dana Plato singing the theme to Night Trap, Dana Plato sings the song during the slumber party in the game and she sings the Night Trap theme at the end credits.
I know this for fact because my friend is Conrad Bain also know as Philip Drummond from different strokes.
I think Dana Plato deserves credit for the Night Trap Theme song because its an important part of Night Trap.
How long is the main theme? Here are Live cameras at the Old Lake Shore Winery House from Night Trap Here are some videos of Night Trap Before playing the videos you can turn off the music at the bottom of this page Night Trap Intro (3DO) Night Trap Gameplay Night Trap Game Over - Too Many Augers Escape Night Trap - Credits At the end of the game if you enter a combination a video showing behind the scenes during the making of Night Trap will pla this is the video.
Two minutes and twelve seconds for the credits version. The slumber party
play time is a bit less.
What kind of song is the main theme?
The main theme is a mixture of pop and jazz, which I assume was created
using a synthesizer.
Which version of the game is it played on? Where can I download it?
The song is played in all three versions (Sega CD, 3DO, and PC). As for
finding a place to download it: Google is your best friend!
